As I prepare to release Transcendent Domain, the epic conclusion to The Seventh Season series, I’m filled with gratitude, reflection, and excitement. This book signifies so much more than just the ending of a trilogy—it’s the closing chapter of an unforgettable journey. From the first spark of uninformed optimism to informed pessimism, and finally into the depths of the “pit of despair,” I’ve learned so much, not just about storytelling but about resilience, self-discovery, and redemption. Writing this story challenged me in ways I never expected, yet every obstacle has made this journey richer.
In Transcendent Domain, I wanted to tackle a deeper, timeless question: Is humankind redeemable? The book explores the struggle to reconcile human flaws with the potential for growth, compassion, and redemption. In today’s world, it’s easy to lose faith in humanity, but I wanted to present a story that suggests that redemption is possible, even if it requires a hero willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. This isn’t a simple “good versus evil” narrative but a nuanced exploration of what it means to face one’s own darkness and still find the light within. In crafting this story, I tried to make things more straightforward, clear, and elegant while preserving an evocative tone. I focused on each sentence’s impact, trusting that sometimes simplicity can be the most powerful approach. The result is a story that feels both accessible and profound.
I won’t deny the toll this story took on me. Writing a trilogy is no small feat, especially when the weight of the characters' fates sometimes feels all too real. There is one particular character whose death scene threw me into writer’s block for months each time I revisited it. Writing has its joys, but it can also demand a lot from the writer, both emotionally and mentally. In the end, it was the support of my wife and mother that kept me going. They reminded me why I started this journey and helped pull me out of the creative fog that can sometimes settle in during long projects like this. Their encouragement, combined with my own drive to see the story through, is what helped me finally bring this project to completion.
One thing I’ve realized during this journey is the importance of learning. Before beginning The Seventh Season series, I wish I’d read Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces. I think it would have given me a greater understanding of archetypes and the hero’s journey, something I’m keenly aware of now. Between Zodiac’s Fall and Transcendent Domain, I took my first writing course, and since then, I’ve continued to study, improving my craft with each story I write. This trilogy has served as my training ground, allowing me to find my voice and grow as an author. I knew from the start I wasn’t going to write like Stephen King or any established author on my first try, but that’s okay. This series wasn’t about trying to be perfect—it was about learning and pushing my limits.
I believe that Transcendent Domain is my best work yet. It’s a darker, more mature book that delves into the complex moralities and choices of its characters. There’s an urgency in this story, a sense of tension that builds toward a meaningful conclusion. And with over 10,000 hours of writing experience behind me now, I finally feel that I’ve developed a true author’s voice. This book is the culmination of everything I’ve learned, and I’m proud to see it come together in a way that reflects the lessons of the journey.
Facing the Marketing Dragon: Conquering My Fear of Reaching Out
If there’s one thing that’s been my Achilles’ heel in this journey, it’s been marketing. As someone who’s deeply introverted, I never wanted to step into the spotlight. Moving to Kauai felt like an escape—I envisioned days spent by the beach, a margarita in hand, enjoying the quiet life. But as enchanting as island life is, there’s a point when you realize there’s more to life than retreating into solitude. After enough time staring out at the ocean, I felt the pull to create something meaningful. I had stories to share, and I knew I needed to reach out to others to do so.
Marketing, though, is a beast all on its own. It was challenging to understand that professional writing and marketing are, in essence, two sides of the same coin. To bring stories to life, you have to be willing to share them with the world. For a long time, the idea of promoting myself seemed daunting, even terrifying. But by facing this “marketing dragon,” I’ve learned to connect with others and am slowly finding my way out of my shell. I’m grateful for the support and connection I’ve found through this journey—you’ve made it possible to take these first steps.
So, to all my readers, thank you for being here, for reading, and for supporting me as I explore new paths. The adventure is far from over; in fact, I feel like it’s just beginning. With Transcendent Domain as the closing chapter to The Seventh Season, I’m already looking forward to what comes next. And don’t worry, there’s more to come soon—The Seventh Season Kindle Box Set and the paperback version of Transcendent Domain will be available soon, with beautiful new cover art.
Thank you for sharing this journey. I’m excited to see where we go next.
